To write or not to write

By Suzette Balucanag

There are times that I really want to write or document something important or wonderful but when I'm ready to do it, words just don't come out.

There are times that I want to write but when I finish my writing, I'm too ashamed to publish it in the web. Or too ashamed to let anybody read it.

Writing sometimes takes its toll on me. Don't get me wrong: I love to write, it is one of my passions, my favorite past time, and certainly one of my stress busters. When I was younger, I loved to make short stories, mostly love stories that leave my readers "twitterpated".

I did have a diary before but I never really had daily entries. And it's weird that most entries were written when I am either angry or lonely. I was such an angst-ridden kid. Fortunately, today, I have outgrown my diary-days and my writing has considerably improved.

Well, technology has greatly improved, too. Before, we had manual typewriters, then electronic typewriters, then computers, and the latest touch-screen electronic gadgets. Honestly, I am not comfortable typing on touchscreen IPADs. Maybe I'm just really old-fashioned. But I do love to hear the clicking sound of my dusty keyboard.

Now I hope that the clicking sounds of my dusty keyboard would inspire me to finally write about the topic I've been thinking for two days now. I just can't seem to find the write words to begin.

I feel the way you do about writing. I have some articles I started writing but left along the way. I have not got back to finishing them yet. Sometimes, I put myself in the shoes of those I expect to read my articles and wonder how they will feel after reading it.

What happens to me after this is either to continue writing if I feel the text is good or stop wherever I am and shelve the completion of the article to a later date. Some of my draft articles will never be finished. However, most of my articles will and they will be published.

Thanks for writing swexie and keep writing.

Wishing you a nice day.

Nnamdi.

Sometimes just the fact of writing words down can kick start your engine until it purrs along and what you are really thinking and feeling finds itself on your page or screen. Its okay if we don't publish every single thing we write. But if you allow yourself to write as a discipline, eventually the right words will come to express those deeper down thoughts.
You'll find the right words.
